Nigeria Decides: APC, PDP lose senatorial election in Buhari’s polling unit



The Katsina North senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmad Baba Kaita was defeated at President Muhammadu Buhari’s polling unit, at the Sarkin Yara Ward A, Kofa Baru polling unit (03), Gidan Niyam in Daura local government area of Katsina state.


The polling unit was won by Accord Party.

Presiding officer, a corp member, Aliyu Abdullahi announced that APC’s candidate, Ahmad Baba Kaita polled 247, Mani Nasarawa (PDP) got 2 and Mohammed Lawal Nalado of the Accord Party 262.

J ustice Abiodun Adesodun of the Ekiti State High Court, has convicted a former cashier officer with Fidelity Bank, Ado branch, Ado Ekiti, Michael Adedayo Ihinolurinjon, and sentenced him to ten years in prison for stealing money from the bank’s vault and diverting customers’ deposits to personal use. What Wike said after being declared winner of Rivers Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday declared Nyesome Wike of the People’s Democratic Party winner of the governorship election in Rivers state.  Wike polled 886,264 votes to beat the candidate of the African Alliance Congress, Biokpomabo Awara who emerged first runner-up. After being declared winner, Governor Nyesom Wike on Wednesday dedicated his victory to God and the good people of the state for standing by the PDP despite the illegal actions of the enemies of democracy. Saraki Won’t Return To Senate, APC Vows

Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday said it had not given up on its belief that Senate President Bukola Saraki was a usurper who needed to vacate his position since he now belonged to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is in minority at the Senate. The party also said it was confident that the forthcoming elections would dash Saraki’s hopes of returning to the Senate as the people of Kwara Central would reject him as their representative at the polls. Saraki was elected as Senate President in June 2015, much to the chagrin of the APC leadership which had pencilled down Senator Ahmed Lawan for the position. Several efforts by the party to remove him from the position have failed.
