2019: Fayose reacts as INEC names Buhari’s niece, Amina Zakari official to announce presidential result


Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has reacted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, appointment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s niece, Amina Zakari as its head of Collation Center for the 2019 elections.


DAILY POST had reported that by her new appointment, Zakari, who was once the Commission’s Director of Operations, will be responsible for announcing the result of the presidential election.

But reacting, Fayose writing on his Twitter Page, faulted Zakari’s appointment.


He said, “Instead of INEC appointing, Amina Zakari, a blood relation (niece) of President Buhari, as the Chairperson of INEC Advisory Committee and Presidential election Collation Center Committee, why not just appoint one of the President’s children as INEC Chairman?

“The same @inecnigeria that is promising free and fair election turning around to appoint a know blood relation of President Buhari, a candidate in the election as head of its Collation Committee? Why are these people so brazen in their plot to impose themselves on Nigerians?”

A Magistrate court sitting in Lagos on Monday sentenced Nollywood actress Funke Akindele and her husband Abdulrasheed Bello a.k.a JJC skills to 14 days community service each. The court also directed them to pay a fine of N100,000 each. The magistrate, who also ordered that they should be placed in self-isolation, added that they must compile the names and phone numbers of everyone who attended Bello’s birthday party and submit same to the court. Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo state, on Thursday met with President Muhammadu Buhari, seeking his intervention in the refund of over N32 billion his predecessors reportedly spent on federal roads in the state. Speaking with state house correspondents after the meeting with Buhari, Uzodinma said Imo is in “financial distress”. He said the funds, if released, will assist in clearing both salary and pension arrears. He said the consultants he engaged discovered that at least N32 billion was spent on federal roads in the past. Uzodinma said he briefed Buhari on the situation of things he met on the ground in the state, adding that the president listened to him.
