FIRS Will Froze Your Bank Account If You Fail To Do The Following Before January 30

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has issued a notice to the general public on Sunday that a 30-day grace period for taxpayers to obtain their 2020 tax clearance certificates starting from January 2 next year. The FIRS Executive Chairman, Muhammad Nami, send a notice to taxpayers when he personally signed by him. Four IPOB Members Arrested For Selling Biafra Newspaper In Aba

Four people suspected to be members of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra have been arrested in Aba Market by Nigerian soldiers for selling a banned Biafran newspaper. The men were picked up under the Nigerian Army “Exercise Atilogwu Udo 1’’, now ongoing in the Southeastern states and Cross River. Col. Aliyu Yusuf, Deputy Director, Public Relations of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army said the four vendors were arrested by troops of sector 2 in Abia. He gave the names of the vendors as Sunday Elom, Martins Ogwuchukwu, Chineme Obiechifula and Innocent Mike. Yusuf did not indicate the name of the newspaper, but he said they have been handed over to the appropriate security agency for further action. Yusuf said the military exercise has nabbed 86 high profile criminals since it began on November.1st.

3 men in court for allegedly hitting IKEDC staff with block

Tell your friends The police on Tuesday arraigned three men: Alabi Tayo, 40, Olufemi Sangokeye, 37, and Lekan Lawal, 28 before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.   They were arraigned for allegedly hitting two of the staff of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) while on official duties with moulded block. The defendants, whose residential addresses were not provided, are facing a three-count-charge of conspiracy, breach of the peace and assault. The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. According to the prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Ajayi, the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by disrupting some staff of IKEDC from performing their lawful duties. Ajayi told the court that the defendants committed the offences with others still at large on Dec. 18 at 10 a.m., in Abule Taylor Street in Abule Egba, a suburb of Lagos. UK government probe uncovers massive fraud in Oyakhilome’s Christ Embassy

After a five-year-long investigation into the finances of United Kingdom (UK) branch of Christ Embassy, founded by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the UK Charity Commission has indicted the church’s board of trustees of a wide range of fraudulent practices including illegally paying more than N827 million (£1,767,250) to entities and organisations it shares close relationships with. According to the outcome of the inquiry published by the Charity Commission on its website last month, the church’s board of trustees was incriminated for shoddy management of the church’s account, arbitrary and curious payments, failure to comply with its grant-making policy, inadequate recording of its decision making processes and serious misconduct and/or mismanagement in the charity’s administration. A soldier on guard duty has been reportedly killed as unknown gunmen attacked the courtyard of former President Goodluck Jonathan situated close to the bank of the river at Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. The Nation reports that about three of the gunmen were also killed by the soldiers, who foiled their attempt to break into the former president’s house. The gunmen were said to have come through the river on five speedboats and opened fire on the soldiers.

Lekki Concession Company, LCC, says it is now ready to begin cashless toll policy at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge on 1 January, 2020. The company had few days ago announced plans to go cashless on the bridge in order to reduce travel time occasioned by payment of toll with cash. Yomi Omomuwasan, LCC’s Managing Director said on Thursday at a news conference on the proposed cashless toll policy, that with effect from the said date, raw cash would not be accepted anymore as toll on the link bridge. Badamasi of a Kano High Court on Tuesday declined to grant an extension on the Interim Order stopping Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from interfering with the powers of the Kano emirate kingmakers. Counsel to the kingmakers in suit No K/197/2019 prayed the court to extend the order pending the determination of the substantive suit. The import of today’s ruling would be that the governor is now effectively capable of exercising all the powers vested in him under the new ‘Kano State Emirates Council Law, 2019. NIPOST reveals how much FG has made from stamp duties

The Post Master General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Barrister Bisi Adegbuyi, Monday, said that the Federal Government has raked in over N45.8 billion from stamp duties following the reforms introduced by the present administration. Adegbuyi said there is no conflict between NIPOST and the Federal Inland Revenue Service as well as the States Board of Internal Revenue over the remittances of stamp duties. He further asserted that the position of NIPOST is that the production, printing and sales of stamp duties remain the sole responsibility of NIPOST even if it had moved from manual to electronic stamps.
